Common questions

What is a boil-and-bite mouthguard?

A boil-and-bite (thermoformable) mouthguard is a model you mould to your teeth yourself using heat.

It offers effective, well-fitted protection, ideal for athletes who want a quick, affordable and high-performing solution.

From what age can you use a boil-and-bite mouthguard?

Our boil-and-bite mouthguards are suitable for adults and for children aged 11 and over.

How do I mould it correctly?

Heat some water until it is hot but not boiling, around 80 °C. Dip the mouthguard in the water for 30 seconds, take it out, gently shake off the excess water and then place it in your mouth.

Bite down firmly for 30 seconds so that it takes the shape of your teeth, then let it cool at room temperature. Your mouthguard is now ready to use.

What should I do if the moulding goes wrong?

Don’t worry: our models can be remoulded.

You can remould them several times by simply repeating the process: hot water for 30 seconds, then in your mouth for 30 seconds.

How long does a boil-and-bite mouthguard last?

The average lifespan is about 2 years, depending on how often you use it and how you look after it.

Replace it as soon as you notice any deformation, loss of fit or visible wear.

Are boil-and-bite mouthguards suitable with a dental brace?

Yes, in some cases our boil-and-bite mouthguards can be suitable with a brace, but only after advice from your orthodontist.

The space required depends on the type of brace and how the treatment progresses. Simply make sure you follow the moulding instructions carefully and check the fit regularly.

How do I care for a boil-and-bite mouthguard?

Rinse it in cold water after each use.

Clean it gently with a brush and a mild toothpaste, then let it dry before storing it in its ventilated case.
